I was born and raised in beautiful Orange County, California where I lived until 2007 when I moved to Seattle, Washington with my husband, Jon. You can learn more about him here or see photos of him on Flickr.  In early 2010 I moved back to Orange County to be closer to my family.

I started helping my mom in the kitchen when I was a young girl with extremely picky tendencies and have since grown to love food and cooking.  As a child I would eat everything plain, and would never try new things (I once cried when my grandmother presented me with pasta that had sauce on it).  If I didn’t like the way it looked I knew I wouldn’t like the way it tasted.  Now, I will try everything at least twice.  Go ahead, challenge me.  I have eaten the innards of various animals, snails, frog legs, rocky mountain oysters, deep-fried lots of things, and sucked the brains of a prawn.  Hey, I didn’t say I’ve liked everything.

My favorite place in my home is my kitchen where I enjoy cooking and baking with tried and true recipes as well as experimenting.  I have become the main cook for our Sunday night family dinners, with my sister and mom helping when needed.  There is no greater joy than to cook for people and then see them enjoying your food, especially when those people are your family.

I love sweets and take after my paternal grandmother in that, “If I don’t have dessert I don’t feel like I’ve eaten.”  Chocolate is one of my best friends and I will never turn down pasta or bread.  I do not like pickled anything and have several food allergies which I ignore on a regular basis.

I am currently attending culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles, California. I work as a recipe tester and developer for a large recipe website based in Los Angeles. I am sort of a ghost writer, Ghost Chef, if you will. I also like to call myself a Research and Development Chef.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Your name is Sarah.  Who is Daisy?

Back when the internet was mostly anonymous I was trying to think of a handle. Daisies are my favorite flower, but that was too girly for my then-punkish personality. I was hardcore! So my friend said I should combine the two, add a little “leet” for my slightly nerdy side and came up with Daisycor3. That was my internet handle for a very long time. Occasionally I was just “Daisy”. When I started this website I thought it would be fun to use my long-time internet persona.

Are you a chef?

I am classically trained in French cooking as well as cultural cooking. Except for a very short stint in the restaurant industry I have not worked my way up to “Chef” in the traditional sense.

Do you accept samples and products? Will you blog about them?

I will gladly accept product samples. I love freebies! Whether or not I choose to blog about them will be at my sole discretion. I will make it clear within the post that I received the product for free to sample and all opinions expressed will be 100% mine and 100% honest.

If I do not blog about your product, but you would like my feedback I am more than happy to share with you my honest opinions.

Can I advertise on your site?

Currently I use Google Adsense to run and maintain the ads displayed on Daisy At Home. This is one way for me to balance out the costs of ingredients and time spent managing this small business. If you are interested in Ad space I would be glad to review your offer and company to ensure it fits with Daisy At Home and will be a mutually beneficial relationship.

What about the products you link to through Amazon.com?

Daisy At Home is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

I link to products I personally use and enjoy. That ranges from kitchen tools to ingredients to books and various resources. I will not link to a product that I have not personally tested and believe to be a beneficial item. You can also see the tools I actually use in my own kitchen in my Amazon store. (You’ll find my wish list there, too).
